Getting started tutorials

Once you’ve completed the setup wizard steps, go to the Getting started page and follow the mini-tutorials to explore Wonder Wishlist.

Managing the wishlist as a merchant

Configure wishlist settings

Define access to wishlists

You can choose to require customers to log in before creating a wishlist on your store.

  • If account login is required: A non-logged-in customer can add products to their wishlist but will need to log in or create an account to view and manage their list. Once logged in, they will be able to create, modify, and share their lists freely.

  • If account login is not required: Customers can add products and view their list without needing to log in.

  1. Go to the Settings page

  2. In the Customer account section, check the Login required box

  3. Click Save

Adding products with variants

You can choose to add either the variant of a product directly or just the parent product to the wishlist.

  • If adding only the parent product is configured: Only the parent product will be added to the wishlist. When the customer wishes to add this product to the cart, they will be redirected to the product page to select a variant.

  • If adding only the parent product is not configured: Customers will be able to add the specific variant to their wishlist. In this case, the variant information will be visible in the list, and customers will be able to add it to the cart directly.

  1. Go to the Configuration page

  2. In the App parent product only to the wishlist tab, check the box

  3. Click Save

Enable the multi-wishlist feature

You can allow your customers to create multiple wishlists. To enable this option:

  1. Go to Configuration

  2. In the Multi-Wishlists tab, check the box Enable multi-wishlist feature

  3. Click on Save

Once activated, set the maximum number of wishlists that your customers can create (up to a maximum of 9).

Allow contributions

To allow friends to contribute to your clients' wishlists, the contribution feature must be enabled in the settings.

  1. Go to Configuration

  2. Check the option Allow friends to contribute to a wishlist

Enabling this feature does not automatically make all wishlists eligible for contributions. Each client must share their wishlist and enable the contribution option.

Once the contribution feature is activated, a new button Create a product for wishlist contribution will appear.

This product, which will be displayed on the checkout page when a friend wants to contribute, is customizable by the creator of the wishlist.

Enable Klaviyo integration

Integrating the application with Klaviyo allows you to send emails to wishlist owners as well as to friends who are added to those lists.

  1. Go to Configuration

  2. Check the box Enable integration with Klaviyo

  3. Fill in the following information:

    • Email property for the Klaviyo test event

    • Klaviyo API public key

    • Klaviyo event name for sharing a wishlist

    • Klaviyo event name for funding a wishlist

  4. Click on Save

Customize translations

On the Translations page, you can fully customize the text of the wishlists for each language available in your store.

  1. Select the language or languages you want to modify.

  2. Click on Get translations

You will have access to the translations for the following pages:

    • Wishlist in header

    • Wishlist page

    • Wishlist CTA

    • Wishlist pop-in

    • Checkout

    • Gift card

  3. After making your changes, click on Save

The "Additional translations" tab in the Syde Translation component ensures that older translations remain available even after the app is updated. Any translations stored in your liquid files but missing from the app's new configuration are automatically migrated. You can also add your own translations, which can then be used in the liquid files of the wishlist.

Customize the display in the theme editor

Access, adding, and removing products from wishlists can be customized from the theme editor. For each option, you can adjust the appearance of the elements using the color tool or by adding custom CSS.

Managing wishlists as the creator

Share a wishlist

Sharing a wishlist allows your customers to send a link to their friends, giving them the opportunity to contribute to its funding.

To share a wishlist:

  1. On the store, while logged into your customer account, access a wishlist

  2. Click on the icon with three circles. When displayed on a black background, it means the wishlist is in shared mode

Your customers can share their wishlist in two ways:

  • Share a link: Copy and send the wishlist link to friends

  • Add emails: Enter the email addresses of the friends they want to share the list with

To allow friends to contribute, check the option Allow people funding my wishlist

Once shared, the wishlist displays new information:

  • Total amount: In gray

  • Amount available to withdraw: In light green

  • Amount already withdrawn: In dark green

On each product page, the number of contributing friends and a progress bar showing the amount collected versus the total price are displayed.

This page is fully customizable using the code editor (colors, texts, circle, progress bar).

To unpublish a wishlist, click on Unpublish this wishlist
Once the wishlist is unpublished, friends who previously had access will no longer be able to view it.

Withdraw the contribution

On the wishlist page, the amounts are updated, allowing the collected funds to be withdrawn.

To withdraw funds from the wishlist:

  1. Click on the three dots on the wishlist page

  2. Select the available amount and click Withdraw

After receiving the confirmation message, the creator will get an email from Shopify containing a gift card, its code, and the corresponding amount. By integrating the Gift Card block, the gift cards will be directly visible in the creator’s customer account.

Features of a wishlist

To help you better understand what the application offers to your customers, this section outlines the actions a customer can perform on a wishlist, as well as the steps to create one. These features provide flexible and intuitive wishlist management.

The creation of a wishlist depends on whether the visitor is logged in or not, and whether the multi-wishlist mode is enabled.

  • Logged-out visitor: They can add products to their favorites, but access to their list depends on the wishlist configuration settings.
Additionally, a non-logged-in visitor cannot create multiple wishlists.

  • Logged-in visitor: a logged-in visitor can directly add products to their wishlist

    • Multi-wishlist mode disabled: favorite products are automatically added to the existing wishlist. If no wishlist exists, a new one is created

    • Multi-wishlist mode enabled: each time a product is added to favorites, the visitor can select an existing wishlist or create a new one

From the multi-wishlist page or a specific wishlist, your customers can:

  • Share their wishlist and send an email to their friends (integration with Klaviyo)

  • Add one or more products to the cart

  • Delete one or more products

  • Move one or more products to another wishlist

  • Modify product quantities

  • Rename the wishlist

  • Delete the wishlist

View the wishlist as a friend

Contributing to a wishlist

For a wishlist to receive contributions, ensure that the Allow contributions option is enabled in the app settings and that the creator has configured their wishlist to accept contributions.

To access a wishlist, you must either receive an email invitation or have the sharing link.

Once these two conditions are met, friends can contribute to the wishlist:

  1. In a shared wishlist, hover over a product and click Contribute

  2. Enter the amount or use the arrows to set your contribution, then click Create

A badge will appear on the product to indicate your contribution, along with the amount contributed.

  3. To finalize your contribution, click Go to payment

At this stage, you will see the name of the wishlist and the products you are contributing to.

The option to add a product image to the wishlist can be enabled in the app's configuration.

Once the contribution is confirmed, the wishlist creator receives an email via Klaviyo (see how to activate this option here). They can then withdraw the contribution.

Contributions are securely processed through Shopify's Payment Service Provider (PSP).

Information shared with friends

Friends with whom visitors share a wishlist have access to the following information:

  • The name of the wishlist

  • The email address of the wishlist creator

  • For each product:

    • The name

    • The price

    • The desired quantity

    • The number of contributions: represents how many people have already contributed to this product

    • A progress bar displays the amount already collected in dark green and the total amount to be reached in light green
